Ted Nyman

Ted most recently co-founded and served as CEO of Cased, an AI developer tools startup. Previously, he was CTO and VP of Engineering at GitHub, where he scaled git infrastructure and led the engineering organization through a period of significant growth. He was also Head of Infrastructure at Loom.

Ted was a founding engineer at Simple (originally BankSimple), one of the first neobanks, where he built the company's core backend and infrastructure.

Ted's expertise spans AI-powered developer tooling, at-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, and technical leadership. He has wide-ranging open source contributions, including authoring the first web interface for Redis, organizing the first SF Redis Meetup, building cased-kit (a popular toolkit for AI devtools context engineering), and maintaining a digitized collection of Tang Dynasty poetry. He has advised multiple early-stage startups on AI tooling. More recently, he created zclaw, a tiny AI assistant that runs on ESP32 microcontrollers.


Ted graduated from Cornell University and is based in San Francisco.
